LipiScan by Tear Science

Dry Eye and its associated symptoms are often caused by a blockage or obstruction of the eyelid glands, called the Meibomian Glands. Meibomian Gland Disease, (MGD) is acknowledged as a core root cause of fluctuating vision and discomfort.

MGD symptoms are largely caused by modern lifestyles and contributory factors including contact lenses, surgical procedures, extended computer/device exposure, and dry eye.

MGD is a prevalent chronic, obstructive and progressive disease that impacts the tear film, (a lining of tears which covers the surface of the eye), visual performance and ocular comfort.

Our office is pleased to announce that we now offer our patients LipiScan, the first and only dedicated high definition gland imager.

This state of the art technology allows your eye care professional to efficiently evaluate the Meibomian Glands. LipiScan harnesses patented dynamic Meibomian imaging (DMI) technology to produce high definition images of Meibomian glands. During imaging, a short, non-invasive 5 minute procedure, Meibomian gland structure is analyzed in our office during your visit.

Based on test results you doctor will discuss possible treatment options with you.
