Monitoring your eyes when you have diabetes
At Spinak Medical Eye Center, you can depend on us to help you keep your eyes healthy when you have diabetes. As a diabetic, you need to have your eyes checked to monitor any changes inside your eye and especially for signs of diabetic retinopathy.
What is the exam like?
Dr. Chang or Dr. Spinak will give you a thorough eye exam which will include dilation, so bring someone who can drive you home as your sight will be blurry and sensitive to light until your pupils return to their normal size.
If the doctor finds diabetic retinopathy, further tests will be conducted to find out if you require treatment or further monitoring.
