What is Custom Ablation and what are its benefits?
Custom Ablation is a new, exciting enhancement to laser vision correction. The goal of custom ablation is to give you a better result than conventional laser correction in improving the quality of your vision. First, a wavefront map is obtained to register the unique optical parameters and aberrations of your visual system. Then the LASDARvision small spot laser will reshape your corner in the same pattern dictated by your wavefront map and thereby remove any optical aberrations. How is it different from standard LASIK vision correction?
Standard LASIK laser vision correction improves vision problems related to focusing, also called "lower order" vision aberrations - far sightedness, near sightedness, astigmatism. Custom Ablation as part of a LASIK procedure can also reduce problems related to the quality of vision, known as "higher order" vision aberrations - contrast sensitivity, night glare, halos, and other vision disturbances. Essentially, custom ablation takes out any "static" in the visual system.
